Later that night an explosion rocked the Lake Victoria base and Noin ran down to
the the pilot trainee barracks after hearing it had been hit the worst. Seeing almost all the
men there dead the other few losing consciousness quickly she let out a cry and ran to the
main communications room to see what was going on. As she entered she saw a few men
there working quickly to get things taken care of and Okami tying her boots up quickly.
“Is Lieutenant Zechs allright?” Noin asked almost immediately.
“Yes the right wing hangars haven’t been hit at all,”one of the men sitting there
replied.
“They say the enemy is still on base right now.. I’m going to go out after him,”
Okami explained.
“No, I’m going out, you stay here incase...” Noin started til Okami interupted.
“I’m going with you whether you like it or not. That’s partly why I transferred
here after all.”
Noin merely nodded in response and they took off out the door. As they ran out
to where they stored their mobile suits Okami pulled her long black hair back into a pony
tail. Upon entering the hanger and getting in her suit Noin ordered two other suits from
the closest position to follow up once she had spotted the enemy riding away on a bike.
Noin ordered the large heat cannon out as well and beside her Okami started her own suit
up and soon they were in hot pursuit.
After words were exchanged and they’d caught up and gotten the man off his bike
they noticed something. He was a young boy, no older than 15. As Noin commented out
loud about this he realized he was fighting women. Flipping a bag up into the air he
jumped up and kicked it setting off several flashes of bright light. Using these to escape
they pursued when they’d regained the ability to see. It was then that they saw the
gundam rise out of the forest.
“It’s one of the Gundams!” Okami shouted and as she was about to go attack it
the other suits that had the heat cannon prepared to fire.
“NO!” Noin shouted at them,”Don’t fire!”
“What? Why?” Both the other pilots and Okami questioned.
“Because she’s a woman!” Wufei answered as he charged and destroyed both the
other mobile suits leaving only Noin and Okami. As he turned to them he attacked Noin
and her suit was damaged enough that she couldn’t get it to do anything except fall to the
ground slumped over.
“Noin! Are you allright?” Okami asked through their communicators inside the
suits as Wufei turned his attentions to her.
“I’m fine but take care of yourself,”Noin said and though the communicator stayed
on she must have thought it had cut out because a second later Okami heard her again.
“Move! Damn Aries! Move!”
As Wufei attacked she quickly dodged it and fired a few shots at him though the
bullets did little to harm the Gundam.
“Damn,”she cursed as she prepared to dodge another one of his attacks and when
she had she fired more shots at him to which he responded by charging her. Before she
could dodge it he had damaged her suit badly enough that it began to stop functioning
properly.
By this point Noin kept shouting for Okami just to leave but it was impossible for
Okami to hear since the communicator among several other things wasn’t working.
Unable to defend herself against him she prepared to evacuate the suit and as the doors
opened to let her out Wufei attacked again. The explosion of the suit was large and when
the smoke cleared the suit was burning and lying several yards away by the side of the
road at the edge of the forest was Okami, unconscious. Noin let out a pained cry as she
saw the sight of the suit burning because when it had blown up she had thought Okami
still inside. Picking up the large heat cannon Wufei turned it back on the base and after
destroying another significant part he took off in Nataku.
Early that morning two suits flew Noin in her suit back to the base and as the
doors opened Zechs got up on them, looking in to see Noin’s eyes still wet from the tears.
“Noin,”he asked,”are you allright?”
“I’m fine, feeling a little beat up inside and out. But..”
That’s when Zechs realized that he had heard that Okami had went with Noin last
night.
“Where’s she at?”
“She’s...” Noin started and another tear fell,”She’s dead Zechs.”
Remaining silent Zechs’ face was a surprised and horrified one behind the mask as
he helped Noin out of the suit. By this point Treize had heard of the gundam’s attack and
had arrived as well.
“What happened? Where is Lieutenant Okami?” He asked as he walked over as
Noin and Zechs got back down to the ground.
“She...died in battle with the Gundam,”Noin stated quietly her eyes threatening to
let more tears fall but she held them in and remained staring forward.
“I see,”Treize said quietly,”She was an excellent pilot, she will be missed. My
condolences to both of you. I know you two graduated with her even though she
graduated a year early.”
He turned to one of the men standing off to the side.
“Go and make a formal announcement that Lieutenant Okami is no longer with us
and that tomorrow will be a funeral ceremony at dawn.”
The soldier saluted and hurried off to follow his orders and the next morning at
dawn there was a ceremony to mourn the passing of Lieutenant Okami shortly after
preparations to furthur attack the Gundams were made.
