“Funny that we’re all here at the same time isn’t it?” She asked, smiling as she
raised her glass to her lips.
“Yeah,”Noin agreed looking over Zechs and the other girl who held the same rank
and worked with her at Victoria base since the recent transfer. Zechs merely nodded as he
looked at Noin.Giving them both a knowing glance she stood and set her now empty glass
on the bar. Giving her pants a slight dust off she walked to the door.
“I’ll leave you two alone to reminisce now. We can talk more later,”she said with
a slight chuckle as she opened the door,”Goodnight.”
“Night Okami,”Noin called out to her giving her a slight wave and smile.
“Goodnight,”Zechs replied as well though more quietly.
As the door shut with a slight click signaling that it was now just the two of them
Noin looked at him again and they began talking.
“When will we slip the Taurus’s out?” Zechs asked.
“0700 hours tomorrow,”Noin replied.
“That’s close,”he said simply.
“I’ve heard the enemies won’t show on radar so we’ve got extra soldiers watching
for them,”she explained.
“That’s the best strategy. Good thinking Noin,”Zechs said, praising her.
“I appreciate your compliment Lieutenant Zechs,”she said a slight smile crossing
her face.
He turned his head slightly as he said,”Just call me Zechs, Noin. By the way, this
room sure is cheery.”
“Most of my soldiers are young and restless,”she explained,”I thought this style
would suit them.”
“Don’t go getting too attached or parting will hurt,”he reminded her.
“Thanks for being so concerned but my soldiers aren’t ever going to be killed in
battle. They’ve been trained not to overdo things,”she replied,”In my mind the value of
life versus war can’t even be compared.”
“My soldiers have died,”Zechs stated,”Noin I disagree with your philosophy.’
“Battles that risk men’s lives are miscalculations. I pity the soldiers who get killed
off.”
At that point the phone rang and she picked it up saying,”Noin here. Oh.
Lieutenant Zechs you’ve got a call from Lieutenant Otto.”
“The technicians here are just as surprised. This mobile suit is far more superior
than initially predicted. It should be ready sooner than expected but even so it’s still going
to take another month or two,”Otto explained over the phone.
“Thanks for letting me know, sounds good. Keep me posted,”Zechs said and the
phone clicked as he noticed the slight tapping of Noin’s uniform’s dress sword tapping
against his own.
